  • It's time to get ready to seed and fertilize your lawn. Also be sure to prevent crabgrass with one of our great products that are easy to apply with a spreader and save money by doing it yourself!

  •  Dry heat will harm a plant, even the more hardier ones. Moisture added to the air will help prevent this.
  •  After the ground freezes, mulch tender perennials, roses and newly planted shrubs.
  • Do not over water. Your plant may look dry and brown around September or early October. This is normal.
  • As long as the ground is not frozen and can accept water, you should water at  least your evergreens.
  • Prune grapevine.
  • Cover heaths and heathers with evergreen boughs.

  • Rotate plants regularly to prevent one-sided growth.
  • Choose your plants and their position in your home wisely.

  • Put up burlap wind screens around marginally hardy plants in exposed areas.
  • If you order seeds from a catalog, get your order in by the end of January.

  • Read directions carefully before application to avoid damaging your plants.  Watch your compost pile.

  •  If tree limbs break due to the weight of ice or snow, it is advisable to have the broken limbs removed as soon as the weather permits.
